    What Are Your Favorite Mice?

My two faves are: a Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel, and a Microsoft Intellimouse Optical(I know, I know, Microsoft is Satan's spawn, but they do make some really good mice; please don't tar and feather me!). I don't need a plethora of buttons; just three are generally fine for me. And a...

    Monitoring Macbook Temperatures

In light of the ongoing issue of Macbooks/Macbook Pros running too hot, it would be really interesting if Macbook/Macbook Pro owners would monitor the temperature ranges of their laptops and post them here. Using something like Temperature Monitor: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/12381...

How About a New Delete Option?

Why not allow one the option of deleting one's post as long as it's done, say, within 10 minutes of posting. It would be helpful in the event one changes one's mind or unintentionally posts a duplicate.

    HD Optimization and OS X

I've read/heard that with OS X, one's HD doesn't need optimizing unless it's got at least 85% of it's space filled, and that optimizing shortens the HD's life......the optimizing process is hard on it. My TechTool Pro 4 manual says that it's a good idea to optimize "occasionally", but doesn't...

    Posting Images..........and Deleting One's Post

How does one post an image so that it can be viewed directly, not as an attachment or via a URL, i.e. http://www.macosx.com/forums/showthread.php?t=35818&page=63. I tried using the "insert image" function but it only posted the image's URL as a link and not the image itself. Also, can one...

    Wireless Mice.......An Unecessary Gadget?

I just can't grok them. I mean, what's the point? They still need a USB connection, and they need batteries. And they cost more. No wire? So what's the problem with a wire? I've never found a mouse's wire a problem. If you like wireless mice, cool!; whatever titillates your gonads. But I'd...

Powerbook Ti 667MHz--Worth Putting Money Into?

I've barely used it since I got my 17" Auminum PB a year and a half ago. Thinking of using it again, but as a secondary computer. I would need to get a new battery; I also want to put two 512MB chips in place of the two 256MB ones, and put a slightly larger hard drive into it. I'm estimating...

Why Safari's Not My Main Browser

Monitoring cookies is very important to me. Unlike most other browsers, Safari offers pathetically meager control over cookies. There's "accept all", "deny all" or "accept only from sites you navigate to". That's it. No option to allow one to accept or deny cookies on the fly, before they...

    Erasing a Dead Hard drive

The hard drive in my 1.5 GHz Powerbook totally died before I had a chance to zero it out; the PB is going in for a HD replacement under warranty. I can't use the installation disk to erase the HD because when booting from it holding the "C" key down, none of the functions in Disk Utility, such...

Setting Off a Sound File at Computer Shutdown

I'd like to use a .wav or mp3 file to allow a particular sound to occur whenever I shut down my Mac. If that's, indeed, possible where would I place the file to enable the sound to go off automatically just before shutdown?
