Active Directory bound machine causes Kernel Panic when copying

So I have an image that I have deployed on many lab machines. This image is bound to a Microsoft Active Directory (I know, but I have no choice). I have also had to disable local homes due to Classic conflicts. So that when a user logs onto a machine their home directory is actually a mounted Samba share located on the network.

Also by decree from on high I have to have Norton Antivirus installed.

This image is working flawlessly except for three notable exceptions:

1. When a user inserts an Audio CD the system tells them that it is unable to read this CD's format. "Ignore" or "Eject".

2. If a user tries to copy files to a ZIP Disk. Kernel Panic.

3. If a user attempts to burn a data CD. The disk will "mount" on the desktop and the user can name it through the normal finder steps. As soon as they attempt to copy the data over to it. BOOM! Kernel Panic.

Any thoughts on this? I need help!
