Can't play dvd

Hi,
I have a dvd which won't play. There are files with endings .bup .ifo and .vob on them.
I have never run a dvd on this machine/system before. It is a g5 running system 10.1 and the system's dvd player. The dvd was sent over from the US.
When I try to open the dvd it just doesn't seem to recognise any of the files as playable.

Any thoughts please?
 
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't a "region" issue. Try VLC Media
Player (from versiontracker.com). It seems fairly immune to
region.
