Can't Start Up in OSX

I recently installed OS X on my G4 400. I already had 9.2 and wante to upgrade to X. The installation goes through just fine and finishes, but when it restarts it gets to the blue screen with OS X logo and goes back and forth between a pointer and spinning CD but never actually boots. I have only one ATA drive and even tried removing my adaptec SCSI card but that didn't seem to help.

you're probably on the right track by trying to remove something. It may just be the installation CD that you need to remove. Or if you have any thing else plugged in that it needs to recognize at start up. For me I sometimes have to unplug a firewire drive. Then put it back after booting. Then it will usually reboot no problem.

it is basically having trouble identifying something connected to it most likely.

Hold down Apple-V on startup to see all the error and success messages from Mac OS X. Try this, and post anything interesting.

Hope we get this figured out, please post back with anything you figure out.
