DNS vs NetInfo Manager?

I would like to override a DNS entry for a particular domain name, but simply entering that name into NetInfo Manager (with the new IP addres) does not work.

It seems like DNS take priority over NetInfo Manager... which is probably right 99% of the time.

How do I switch the precedence for now?
