Has anyone come across a mac utility for converting different embroidery formats? My mother just purchased a new Kenmore sewing machine that does embroidery and she needs to convert downloaded emboridery designs and designs her friends send through the mail so she can transfer them to her CF cards and then into her machine. How difficult would it actually be to create a a conversion program...Someone mentioned that archicad might be able to do the trick since the stiches are loosely based on CAD layouts, but I don't think this would be the way to go since most pc emboridery convertor programs are under 200 bucks, and archicad is a few grand. Need to fix the quilt site http://www.patchworkcompany.com

Here is a link to a pc converter. I guess you can take .bmp, or .jpg files and then convert them to the embroidery machine format of your choice or convert from one embroidery format to another. She has a kenmore so it uses the .jef format.

Thanks....It looks like the punto is the only software available for the mac. But it requires a commercial emboridery machine and doesn't work on the millions of home based versions everyone is buying and has bought the last few years. Somewhat of a shame. I think that the only choice for a mac user is going to be VP7. Unless they want to spend 20 grand on a commercial embroidery machine. There are 16 windows programs that will convert and only that one for the mac. Hopefully, someone in the mac community could make a simple conversion utility for all the moms out there.
