Hard Disk Sleeping in Tiger

I recently upgraded to Tiger and have noticed an issue with my hard disk sleeping when it shouldn't. I have a Mac Mini that boots off an external Maxtor OneTouch II 250 GB hard drive. In 10.3.7 - 10.3.9, I unchecked the box that allows the hard disks to sleep. The external drive never slept as expected. After the upgrade to Tiger the drive sleeps constantly. Does this sound like the OS or the drive being an issue?

I did a clean install of Tiger on the internal HD and the same thing happens. Any ideas?

Thanks

I saw your thread when first posted. I have done exactly the same things you have and do not have the problem. I guess I'd start with trying an extreme and then moving the other direction a step at a time to see where the problem develops. That is, I would start by going to Energy Saver and set your Mac to maximum performance, to keep everything from sleeping, etc. Then, I'd see how far I could loosen the constraints and have things work the way I want.

I deleted the file com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and also set all the energy saver settings to off. However both my hard disks still go to sleep after a couple of minutes.

I thought I should provide an update. 10.4.1 seems to have fixed the problem. My hard drive no longer goes to sleep.
