Can anyone help me as this is doing my head in? I've had this problem since the day I bought my iMac a couple of months ago. Everytime I switch it on I have to turn Airport Off and then On to get an Internet Connection (or alternatively send the iMac to sleep and then back on again). Why doesn't it work immediately?! The router I have is a Thomson Speedtouch 716.
On startup I'm told that I'm connected to my network but the internet connection doesn't work. When I go to Internet Connect it shows me connected at a full signal. I turn Airport Off and then On and then it reconnects at a half full signal but the internet now works.
I've setup a new location called Home. My Network is in the preferred networks list and the WPA password is saved in the keychain.
I've tried fiddling with all the TCP/IP combinations (Using DCHP, DCHP with manual address, manual) but it is the same everytime. This is a really annoying problem and I just can't fix it.
