Installing Panther?

Hi all, I just got Panther and am ready to install on my G4 733 640 RAM that has both OS 9.2 and OS 10.0.4 on it. Any warnings or tips before I leap? I have not read instructions yet but assume it will just overwrite the existing OS10? Thanks and a wonderful Thanksgiving to you and yours.

Oh, the key apps. I work in and cannot afford to have jacked up are:

Classic: Quark 4.11, Adobe Illus. 9, Adobe PS 5, Adobe Acrobat 5, Outlook Express, MS Word for Mac

OSX: none at this time although I am purchasing Dreamweaver MX2004 soon

Just repair permissions as soon as you get done. Oh, the Panther threads here have been pretty helpful for specific problems others have had, and potential pitfalls.

First, make a backup of everything you consider important. If you have lots of external hard drive space apart from your main drive, use Carbon Copy Cloner to copy everything to it in case you need to go back to it. Then customize the OS X installation and choose Archive & Install; this will move your 10.0.4 system to a folder called "Previous System" and will install Panther good to go, preserving your settings.
