Hello.

I use LittleSnitch 1.1.1 as a firewall

i'm trying to deny connections from as many as i don't need.

SystemUIServer, ntpd, ntpdate, nslookup, natd, mDNSResponder, curl, configd, etc etc...do i need these allowed?

where can i find out what they all refer to and what are they for ?

:confused:

(it feels a bit dangerous to test them each on/off, when i know so little about them, so i came here to ask you all.)

(OSX Panther 10.3.9 here)

Yes, allow those;

SystemUIServer handles a number of "extras" in the system. All of the .menu apps are handled through it.

By default, OSX runs a program called ntpd. This program uses the NTP protocol to sync the realtime clock on your Macintosh with the highly accurate clock at time.apple.com. To get a bunch of details about how this works, run "man ntpd" in Terminal.app.

ntpdate is a simple NTP client which allows a system's clock to be set to match the time obtained by communicating with one or more servers.

nslookup

Look in terminal for;

'man natd'

man mDNSResponder

man curl

man confidg
