What is it with Open With in the context menu in the Finder that it only sometimes seems to work? Is this a bug or am I missing some sort of functionality?
It will appear only when there is no application associated with the file type. But you can force it to appear by shift-rightclicking (or shift-ctrl-click).

That's not true about the lack of association. Last night I logged out and then back and, and every file I right-clicked on had Open With. Makes sense that way. What if you have a Photoshop file you want to open with Preview just to view?
So, something is breaking Open With. I have been trying right clicking in the Finder every time I do something fairly significant.
