OS 9.2 Weird Networking Issue?

I have a g4 with os 9.2.2 with a weird networking issue going on. If I turn on file sharing it shows the hard drive shared even though it isn't. You can connect to the share via a os 9 machine, but osX errors, it will mount it, but when you try to open it "Item is in use by os x"? I trashed the prefs and threw away the appleshare PDS file on the drive and same thing. If I create a new share, it doesn't publish either? Please Help?!!

Do you have OS X installed on the machine? If so, it is OS X that is in control and you need to set File sharing in OS X.
 
Then why are you getting OS X errors?

Restart the computer and immediately hold down the option and the apple keys. Continue to hold down those keys until you get a dialog box asking if you wish to do a desktop rebuild. This will appear after the extensions load at the bottom of your screen. When that dialog box comes up, release the keys and click on the okay button.

Now try it. Are you trying to connect to an OS X machine and selecting a file that is being used by that machine? On the OS X machine, quit that program and see if the errors go away.
