Remote Dial in on OS X

Situation:

A client needs ability to "dial-in" to a OS X server with an 800 number with TCP/IP and upload files through a proprietary application that has a service residing on an odd tcp port. Access any other will is not allowed. This used to work on an old Power Mac that has bit the dust. Through several hours of research and attempts I have tried to setup pppd and uucp, but have encountered numerous errors with compiling like missing libraries, no compiler, etc.... I have resolve most of these errors but there MUST be an easier way. My understanding is that this remote access feature was apart of OS 9 and was supposed to be supported in OS X. I have not anything to support this except for OS X hobbyist friends, and they do not know how to set this it up. Any suggestion for programs or plans of attack would be appreciated because I have been working on this for two weeks with little to no progress and a huge headache. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Sincerely,

Matt Rigor

The first hurdle, I would say, would be routing the 800 number to the actual computer through the office switchboard...

Aside from that, if your client requires a proprietary application, why don't you install that ? What is this app, and why is access any other way disallowed ?

I hope the files he's uploading are small, because dialup...not the best network solution to match a G5 server ;)
