restart/shutdown horror osx

gigay all,

after reinstalling osx 2., restarted the mac as prompted-,then a window came up giving me the option to shut down or restart..i have not been able to
get past this point as every time i restart this window rears its head

have rebooted from the os9 disk & can access os9, but nothing i do will get me to the osx desktop.

in classic i tried osx start up disk and alas nothing.

i am vexed!

yikes, I know your pain.

The problem is probably with the mach_kernel file as described in these two knowledge base files
