Safari is messing up encodings ! Argh !

toast

Gone !
I'm trying to read this page (written in basic, simple, correctly encoded Republican American):
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1030798/posts

But this is what I get (see attachement)… My settings are damn normal: in Prefs, default encoding is Occidental (ISO 1), and I have tried other encodings, it won't change !

That's the first time this happens. I treied trashing all Safari files in the Prefs, won't work…*I'm desperate, could someone help me ?

As you can see, I recently discovered my Times font is now… its Phonetic alternate. I can't figure why, except that I opened FontBook for the first time today and that the problem may come from there.

Nope. I solved the problem by de-activating the Phonetic component of the Times font, which is a shame. This font is a Mac OS X default font, I haven't tried any weird font install. I'm clueless, but the most important is done: Safari displays serif text normally again.

Thanks for your help ! I'm sending a bug report to Apple.
