I'm having a bizarre slowdown issue on my network... I have a gigabit switch, two Windows machines (one is on Vista, the other is XP MCE) and a Mac Mini. Whenever I start a file transfer from the Windows machine, I receive incredibly slow speeds of around 5MBps, but if I initiate the transfer on OS X, the speed is 25MBps, about what you would expect from gigabit.
One of my main goals was to have the Mac Mini operate as a file server for my network, so this has become a major issue in that plan. I have tried several things so far including the various additions to the smb.conf file, setting ACK to 0, and ensuring the NICs are forced to 1000 Mbps Full Duplex. So far, nothing has worked
If anyone could provide any insight on this or steer me in the right direction for troubleshooting this, I would be very appreciative!
