Symantec Norton Personal Firewall won't load

I'm on an old G4 and I think it's 10.3...sheesh, just can't remember. I'm running Symantec Norton Personal Firewall that loads at start up, before any other programs. Well, now it's just hanging. The program won't load, it just hangs there with the graphic on the screen (I'm finding the graphic, more and mroe annoying). Because the firewall won't load, I can't get to anything on the computer. The desktop shows on the monitor, but because the Firewall won't load, I can not open any other program or item on my desk top. I'm guessing I'll have to boot up off a different start up, but I can't even get to my control panel to change the boot up disk. Any suggestions?

Try booting the computer in "Safe Mode" -- I do believe Mac OS X 10.3 supports this, although I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't... anyway, do this:

1) Reboot your computer.
2) Immediately hold down the Shift key, and keep it held down.
3) Wait until the computer tells you you're booting into "Safe Mode", or you reach the login screen or desktop.

Once you get past Norton loading, you can elect to remove it from your system however Symantec recommends removing it, or troubleshoot what the problem is. I recommend removing any and all Symantec products from any Mac system running OS X -- as of late, they don't have a great track record of producing quality software for OS X.
