    I'm attempting to do what you told me to, but I'm not really seeing any results. Creating a new location for "Work" doesn't really do anything, the network I'm connected to is the same as it was for "Automatic." With both I can browse the internet and whatnot, but I can't see any shared...

    No, the network doesn't have a server. It's just a bunch of computers in an office with a common workgroup name. I'm running OS X 10.5.6
