Can I use a 1GB stick of ram with a 512 stick in my Macbook or do they both have to be the same? Thanks in advance. P.S. The 1GB is from my old Powerbook G4, is it compatible.

Thanks for your reply, yes i've tried both of these, although the problem with the first one is that I don't even hear the chime sound. Another strange thing i've noticed is the F5 key activates the num lock instead of F6, so I hit F5 and F6 lights up.

I was running firefox and msn messenger and all of sudden everything froze up, I couldn't even move the cursor. I did a force shut down by holding down the power button and when I turned it back on the fan was louder than it's ever been and the screen was blank, I didn't even get the chime...
