I am planning to upgrade my OSX Snow Leopard to Lion and then I saw your post. One of my buddies recently upgraded his 13" Macbook from Snow Leopard to Lion (about a month ago). I believe his Macbook has the same spec as yours, but he upgraded his RAM to 8GB before installing Lion...
This is a dumb question - have you tried a wired connection from your Macbook to your router? If so, were you able to connect to the internet?
Just out of curiosity, which router brand are you using?

I think using a Jetdirect card is likely to work because your printer itself will be assigned an IP address and your router no longer needs to behave as a print server. Unfortunately, that will cost you additional $$$. :(

I suspect that it may be the driver issue - initially I used Canon IP4500 series with CUPS and that didn't work until I changed my driver to Canon PIXMA IP4500 - CUPS+Gutenprint v5.2.6.
Apart from the above, the following worked for me: LPD as the protocol, 192.168.1.1 as the IP...
