Anything To Watch Out For In Replacing Imac Fusion Hdd

I went to iFixit.com and found the following. You didn't specify a model but they have guides for everything. Here'a a link for the late 2012 iMac, which I think was the first one with the Fusion drive: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/iMac+Intel+21.5-Inch+EMC+2544+SSD+Replacement/28992 I didn't...

Weird Grey Screen And Can't Get Start Up

If you're looking for a drive I'd recommend Hitachi. There new line is very fast. I've got a 2.5" 500GB in one of my systems and it's a lot faster. If it uses a 3.5" drive look for the newer models that use AF format because that's the fast family. I believe Western Digital has similar speed...

External Shows Up When It Wants To. Is This A Yosemite Bug?

After using it for a few weeks with 10.10.4 I can safely say the problem is gone. I guess it was some type of a glitch in 10.10.3.

External Shows Up When It Wants To. Is This A Yosemite Bug?

I got 10.4 beta and because I was still worried that there may be something wrong with the system I installed it on a Firewire drive as a fresh install. This is showing no signs of having the same problem. Either they fixed whatever it was or there was just some junk left over from previous...

External Shows Up When It Wants To. Is This A Yosemite Bug?

Hi Cheryl: Thanks for the response, but I've tried that before, and I've even tried different cables. It's almost like Yosemite is simply refusing to acknowledge that the drive is there, but in a random manner. I don't get it. This is the strangest thing I've ever seen.

External Shows Up When It Wants To. Is This A Yosemite Bug?

I have a peculiar problem and wondered if anyone else has it. I have a WD MyBook about 3 years old and under Yosemite it seems to like to show up as an attached drive whenever it wants to, or maybe I should say whenever Yosemite will allow it to - that's the question. I thought this was a...

Mac Hard drive failure - Why bother fixing it these days, also why consider an SSD?

I visited another site today and a user was complaining about the good 'ol spinning beach ball problem, system locking up, etc. etc ... all the typical symptoms of a hard drive failure. Catch? It's an SSD that's only a few months old. The user couldn't figure the problem out. Finally he got a...

Mac Hard drive failure - Why bother fixing it these days, also why consider an SSD?

I started getting a lot of spinning beach balls loading stuff on my MacBook running Mountain Lion. I assumed it was a memory problem. Updated the base memory from 2G to 4G and it seemed improved, but the beach balls kept appearing. Finally I got some message about I/O errors and couldn't write...
