When you buy a mac it comes with a 30 day trial version of office, otherwise it has its own somewhat comparable software installed. Just like most PCs you must buy it if you want to keep it. If you ask me, it's well worth the money. If you don't care, you should be able to open word documents...

Hi. I like to have the from column appear farthest left on the screen. I keep moving it there, it stays for a bit, and then moves back a few columns to the right. How come it's not staying, and how can I make it stay?

What's the point of this icon anyway? Why is it different from Safari?

In Appleworks 6 there's a program called painting. There's also one called drawing. I think this is what you're looking for.
