The Read Me file for the 02.06 nightly build of Chimera was created on 2.5.2002, and the heading begins: Chimera 0.7 Release Notes.
A good sign.

Don't wait. If you've got the money, buy it.
There aren't a whole lot of compelling capabilities left that a 1 GHz Superdrived Powerbook doesn't have.
And it's cheaper too. It's a #$$^(&*@#$ miracle!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAGH

Alright, I think I'm feeling better now
The top of the line Powerbook exceeds a reasonable person's expectations.
I'm not sure what else Apple could do to satisfy people right now. This is simply an incredible piece of hardware, and its $200 less than the previous iteration.
I just hope there aren't 'supply problems'. You know...
Prepare the Koolaid and the portable reality distortion field generators.
Quickly.
This round appears to be for Mr & Mrs Switcher and various opportunists. The price cuts are a good move. Hopefully there'll be something major for us to go nuts about later (like january).

Happy...
That was cool, Toast.
Some of these posts border on completely bloodless pseudo-analytical dissections of what is a simple matter.
I don't buy these 'let's crunch the numbers...because I can add' approaches to the problem. The Macintosh remains the computer for the rest of us. Go with God...
There's this book, Secrets of the iPod, that I browsed in the bookstore the other day. The author did the following:
1) He dropped it. Kept playing
2) Dropped the same iPod while jogging. Kept playing.
3) Dropped the same iPod from a bike (I think) going 15-25mph. Kept playing.
4)...
Unless Apple can immediately flood the channels with any new product, making an announcement now would be disastrous to the bottom line.
It shouldn't be done.
Unless there are no Powerbooks on the shelves, Apple cannot afford to simply announce a *new* *improved* Powerbook that can't actually be acquired during the holiday season. Nobody'd buy the old Powerbook, and the new one isn't available yet. That way, everyone's pissed.
Can't we just wait...
all will be open by Thanksgiving. I read that somewhere. That'd put them at/over the goal of 50 (or was it 75, nah, it was 50) stores by the end of 2002. You know they don't want to miss the holidays with these puppies.
I just purchased a 10GB iPod. It is a measure of my stubborn adherence to...
This 'old' theme is easier to read...more contrast. Maybe I'm going blind or something.
The new theme didn't cause problems w/ Chimera, but it looked kinda odd, like Plastic.com, just harder to get around in.

Just sell it everywhere already and quit dribblling out one new reseller every few months. This is a consumer gadget, not a Powerbook, we should be able to buy one at the corner store by now.
MOVE THE PRODUCT.
If there's something interesting to talk about in the Windows world, then why not? Cripes, much of what is discussed here is done using Microsoft and Windows as foils for 'the good stuff'.
Personally, to this day, watching or using any version of Windows gives me a profound feeling of unease...
