com.apple.systemsound.plist this does not exist in my preferences all other solutions didn't work either

After plugging back in my Power MAC G5 after installing ram the start up sound comes throught the machine instead of the external speakers now? I've checked sounds setting and it still come through the machine. Not a major issue, I'm just curious as to what happened.
