Why does it say mounting failed when I try downloading Itunes from apple.com?

After attempting to download something, why does the download manager say mounting failed?

For some reason I cannot download widgets or any other programs (AIM, adobe acrobat reader, etc). When I try to download a widget, my download manager pops up and says the name of the widget.zip(MacNify.wdgt.zip) and under it says that it cannot create file.
