From what I can tell. In the LDAP setting in Open Directory under base search there wasn't DC=network. I couldn't find a way to add it so I just rebuilt the server. And of course there was an option to add a base search (optional) There I added what it should have been and now it works fine.

Did you try doing another software update and see if there are anymore updates to do. If it's a firmware update you need to following the instructions and the let the computer do the update. It would help if you knew what update you were trying to do.
