    OSX shut me out!

Now that you have OS X 10.1.3 just how you want it, consider making yourself a rescue disk or image of what you have now. I have screwed my OS X several times and went through the bloody re-install drama and it is a real pain. With a rescue disk I don't give a dam if OS X goes bad. A couple...

    OSX shut me out!

Start up holding down the Command key + S. Run fsck -y when you get the command prompt. If it says your system files have been modified repeat fsck -y until it no longer says this. Then type reboot and press return. Hope fully your system X will startup.

    Reinstalling OS X...

Maybe it can be looked as two different system problems. Problematical and Totally Hosed. Problematical: You know what your problem is, but not exactly what file and you reinstall in the manner described, and you have no problems whatsoever. Thats not unexpected. I'd give that a go if I...

    Reinstalling OS X...

If you accept that you have a corrupt system, and nobody can interpret the console messages for you, then a reinstall is obviously required. If you have one or more corrupt files in your system, finding that file(s)amongst the tens of thousands files OS X installs, is in the snowballs category...

You are chasing your tail if you are trying to use Startup Manager to change your startup system if you have Mac OS X and Mac OS on the same volume. It can't be done. You can use either of your respective install CD's (X or 9) or use Startup Disk contained in System Preferences to change...
