Probably iWork when (if?) they stick a spreadsheet app in there. Maybe the new OS X version after the first couple revisions. Might be kinda tough to talk the wife into letting me get an iMac, though...
Best of luck. Hopefully they'll be able to clear up the situation. I hope it's not needed, but as with any place you might have to be pleasantly persistent until things are fully resolved.
djc_nl, you're paying extra for a Mac and part of what you're paying for is less hassle. You did not create the problems; they were there from the start. It's up to the Apple people to fix them. You've got better things to do with your time.
Viro, hope you continue to enjoy it. GC is a great example of time=money. Once you set up some batches, etc, you'll easily get back the purchase price. For both work pics and family pics, GC has been great over here.
I've seen Apple reluctantly discard their proprietary hardware piece by piece, to the point where Apples were pretty much just PCs with a different processor and OS. It's good to see that they've finally made it. Also funny to see how all of a sudden the benchmarks sort of point the other...
Did you look through the OS X downloads on Apple's site? There are several freeware / shareware / commercial products available.
fwiw, I didn't find anything comparable to GC. There's ImageMagick, which I've actually used quite a bit and which is easily as powerful, but it requires more time...
If you didn't tinker with anything (and if you've got a good admin password on the router), then maybe the router's going bad? Another likely thing is that your ISP is doing "upgrades" that messes with things temporarily. Any way to test another router?
fwiw, with the Linksys I'm using (same...
Goldi1ocks, fwiw, yes, I've seen new batteries blow out older powerboards (small board hooked up to the motherboard in the models of laptops I used to repair) from time to time. I've also seen many times when motherboards / powerboards blew out through their own free will.
Does the smell go...
Graphic Converter is great. If you want something much smaller (and free) that may fit your needs, try FFView. Not nearly as many features as GC, but it's noticeably faster.
After reading the posts, it's all too clear: Fryke is really Steve Jobs. :D
If iPods ever get down to about $50 - $70, I'll buy one. Guess that leaves me way way behind with iTV...
I'd have to put another vote towards Fink. It installed and worked perfectly (but this Mac's made me even more lazy so I later bought Graphic Converter :D).
I've really enjoyed "Pages" that's bundled with "Keynote" and sold as "iWork". Still, along with the above posts I'd have to ask about trying some free apps before putting down money for something that may be overkill. As Mikuro mentioned, TextEdit is pretty good (and not too slow). Also, the...
