Yeah, email uses it, web uses it, everything that uses a domain name has to have some way of resolving the name to the numeric IP address. The DNS server entire are numeric only, otherwise you would need a DNS server to find the DNS server.
I did a Google on Public DNS. Here are some. Enter...
These are very good units and well worth the cost. You should not go for dollars when looking at protection, less dollars will equate to less protection, bad warranties, and shorter life.
Go for one of these and be assured your stuff will be well taken care of by both the units and APC...
They had Apple replace the memory and it fixed the problem. At 6 mos old, your PB is still in warranty and you should take it in and let them replace chip.
Also, highly recommend AppleCare. It may seem expensive, but will be well worth it 2 years from now and the PB starts dying.

I would have been ROFl at that one. There is no .mac support at all. Just try and get someone to help with email not responding every day between 11:00 and 12:00 est, or why the .mac home page won't show up, or "where are the discussions?".
Heh... .mac support.
Funny.
But seriously...
You can also boot from the Restore CD and just install Classic. It is what I did on my G4 and it worked fine for my Classic apps without a full blown OS 9 install.

Hope this helps, can't think of...
