Mirrored displays, MacBook display stays black

Well, it depends on the case. If I am on my external monitor (without a camera or a microphone) and I receive a video chat invitation, I would like to just open my MacBook and start the chat. But instead I would have to put the computer to sleep first which cancels the chat, open the MacBook and...

Mirrored displays, MacBook display stays black

I love my Mac but sometimes Windows PCs have better features: On a PC notebook there is a fn-key combination (F8 or something) which allows to switch between 'only external', 'only internal', and 'internal and external' screen mode. I thought a Mac may have something similar. It shouldn't be...

Mirrored displays, MacBook display stays black

My mother-in-law, who lives overseas, bought an external monitor for her MacBook White. I helped her with screensharing and video chats to set it up that it shows the same picture as on the MacBook when both are on (mirrored). I showed her how she can use her external monitor while having the...

    AIM 5.5 and iChatAV problems

The problem seems to be solved now with the new AIM version 5.9. Video chats between a Windows AIM 5.9 user and Mac iChat user are now working fine and an iChat user can now send a video chat invitation to a Windwos user.

    bluetooth headsets

I bought and installed a Mitsumi bluetooth USB adaptor (Class 1) and am using a Sony Ericsson headset. In the bluetooth prefs I could pair those devices and the prefs show under the "Devices" lable: Device Type: Audio Device Services: SonyEricsson Headset Service, SonyEricsson HandsfreeService...

    Anyone use Skype?

I am using version 0.10.0.1 and it works pretty good. It's not as good as iChat but, hey, iChat cannot do phone calls. Has anybody made experience with bluetooth headsets? I bought a bluetooth USB adaptor and have a bluetooth Sony Ericson headset. Mac OS X finds both devices and is able to...

    AIM 5.5 and iChatAV problems

I just read in a German forum that maybe RTC version 1.2 is missing on the Windows PC. RTC is an API that should make video and audio messaging possible. I have not found out yet if my friend uses version 1.2. This may also be a part of the problem. I will check with my friend too if there is...

    AIM 5.5 and iChatAV problems

I've been trying to make video and/or audio chat between a PC on the other side of the ocean and my Mac work. Mac to Mac with iChatAV 2.1 is no problem as you can imagine but AIM 5.5 that my friend on the PC uses must not really be as compatible as announced. Here are the facts and symptoms...

    Scanner for documents and slide

I am using Panther 10.3.3. I've heard of the Epson Perfection 3170. No firewire though.

    Scanner for documents and slide

I am looking for a new scanner but have a hard time finding what I want: Firewire (if possible; USB may work too) tray for slides and negatives tray for documents (batch scanning) "scan documents to PDF" full OS X compatibility, of course I have a lot of documents that I need to scan...

    iChatAV and AOL 9.0

So could you do a video/audio chat?

    iChatAV and AOL 9.0

iChatAV is compatible with AIM 5.5 on a PC that runs Windows XP. But is iChatAV also compatible with AOL 9.0 (supposingly the lastest version) running on a PC? Has anyone tried this? Or in other words: Which AIM version is part of AOL 9.0?

How to keep iPhoto Library folder organized?

Actually, I want my Mac respectively iPhoto to move the pictures and change the file names for me. I don't want to do it myself. In regard of exporting, you have a point but I am also thinking about backups that I want to do perhaps by the year. If I scan pictures from 1998, I want them to end...

How to keep iPhoto Library folder organized?

There is a very cool feature in iTunes under Preferences: "Keep iTunes Music folder organized". Check it and iTunes does it all for you: For example, change the name of the album and iTunes changes the name of the folder automatically. Great! This makes it really easy to locate the music files...
