i have the same pb config but with 1.5 gb ram - all works fine and i mostly use photoshop cs2 an finalcut on it - so i dont really think you should switch to a mac book too early

yeah MacDrive is great, but remember it works only if you don't have Alcohol120% or Daemon Tools installed.

just rename it on windows and this name will also appear as volume name in os x
