    What is HAL?

    I started getting a lot of errors like this: Error: 0, AHS_UserSettings::CanBeDefaultDevice: got an error from the HAL when getting kAudioStreamPropertyVirtualFormat I suspect Keynote. Do I care about this error, and if so, how do I fix it? thanks Mr HQ

    Slow performance with Mavericks

    tvmobilisvcd is the culprit. Go to their site and see if they have updated the app. There are a lot of complaints there that talk about 50% CPU use and 30% RAM use even when not active.

    Mac Mail folder question lost emails

    Do you backup using TimeMachine? Find the original mail folder. Start Time machine, and go back to before you erased the files. Otherwise use a back up made some other way. you do make backups, right?
