Wow! I just imported 6000 fonts and it's speedy as hell - the same can't be said for Font Book (or Suitcase). It did crash when I removed to of my fonts that got landed in ~/Library/Fonts and were active, but since then it's been behaving amazingly well. I'll post back how it's holding up in...

Thanks for the advice. I ditched Suitcase some time ago and actually discovered that in Font book it's now possible to create libraries which aren't moved/copied to your fonts folder but just left where they are. I also removed tons of system fonts (andale mono? Apple gothic? wo needs this...

Hi, I have a Smartdisk Crossfire external 160GB hardrive with Firewire + USB 2.0 connections. I would like to get a bigger drive. The cheapest thing to do seems to replace the drive while keeping the enclosure. The only thing is, I can't find any information about what type of drive it is...

ah, so it's not a creepy infection of some sort. now that you mention it, I used cocktail to tweak some of the interface settings but probably didn't shut down the machine before I went on vacation and so totally forgot. duh. thanks for clearing that up for me!
