I am having the exact same problem with a HP Scanjet 5300C and Acrobat Pro 7.0.7. General Scanning with the HP software works fine. But in Acrobat I can not scan. It actually shows a scanner in the drop down (HP PrecisionScan DS whatever that is) but when I try to scan, the scanner icon briefly...
