Attempted to repair permissions several times, and gave fsck -yf a try and didn't have any luck. And as for my HD, I have 18GB available out of 40. Unfortunately I may have to resort to taking it into the Apple store. :_( Thanks for the suggestions though.

It just puzzles me I've never encountered crashing apps before. Do you think I should shell out the money for additional memory if that's not where the problem lies?

I'm running OS X 10.3.9 on a 3 year old eMac. I've had issues with my memory before, since I'm only at 256MB, so I'm not ruling this out as a potential memory problem. My applications are crashing immediately after I open them, or after I use the application the slightest bit. Firefox is...
