it charges when my laptops shut off... but not when its turned on...

So my old batter died because i didn't use y macbook for a month or so and i got a new battery from apple and now it wont charge... when i plug the cord in a light doesnt even go off...any suggestions?

lol k i knew that much... it says 0% and it shuts off if i unhook it... thankss though im about to try the method suggested above.. wish me luck i have a warranty though sooo if worst comes to worst i can send it back

it is an apple macbook charger! but yeah i'll try what she suggested .... it says not charging now in stead of having an x

well... i ended up just buying a charger at best buy for 80 bucks...so i didn't use my macbook for about a month and now the battery wont charge like i have to keep the charger plugged in and it says no batteries available on the battery icon...did my battery die?

i have the macbook the power supply is 60 watts....

so someone stole my charger and i ordered a laptop charger off ebay and it did not come with the power supply (the thing you plug in the wall, i don't know if i used the right word) and i cant seem to find any store that sells it and the closest apple store from me is over an hour away...does...
