OK, it's working now. I repaired the permissions using the boot disk. Even though it said there weren't any problems, I clicked repair and, QT installed fine this time. Cheers :-)

I was trying a double pronged approach to the QT problem. I'm sorry if it wasn't clear from my original post, but when I use the updater, it tells me it is up to date (it's not, it's at 6.4). And when I use the installer, it goes through the motions, then just closes without installing...
