I just upgraded my PB pismo to 768mb ram and a 40gig hard drive, damn, it is blisteringly fast now, it feels like OS 9, can't believe the speed increase, photoshop opens in a flash, everything is nippy,. Feels like a whole new OS, can't imagine what it must be liketo have a G4.

mine too, but it makes a clicking sound, it never did this under OS9, but under X it happens. Doesn't really bother me, but the HD makes a racket every other moment of the day though.

I must be easily satisfied, or something, maybe it was all those years using lightwave on an Amiga but, I'm pretty happy with the speed of 10.2 on my pismo powerbook, it's only got 320mb ram in it and it does slow down now and again as I reach the limit, and yeah, the window redraw is ok. But...

Mind you, I can see why Apple might charge less for the OS X version compared to Irix/Linux. The Irix versionis tried n tested, the Mac port might lack a number ofkey feautures, I'm not sure,but if it did, then I could understand the price difference. Also, the Mac versin by its very nature...
