I'm pretty computer-illiterate(?) and all I know is that I'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9 how do I check on the other stats if my comp wont get past the "apple" screen?

I've searched, but couldnt find my answer guys... Anyway, I've had my G4 for awhile now, and I stupidly started deleting files the other night b/c I kept getting the "Start-up disk is Full" msg. After I deleted everything, I tried to re-start, but now all I see is the grey apple in the middle...
