I ended up having to reformat the hard drive and restoring orgianl settings. It worked and we're happy ever after. Thanks for the help.;)

I tried the reset button but it still won't reboot. I can't get it past the happy mac and the swirling rainbow. Help!!!!:(

I tried the fsck -y. That went well but it still didn't start my ibook. It still returns to the happy mac with the swirling rainbow and then it goes to black. I hear it running or doing something but the screen is black and nothing happens.:(

You may have missed the beginning of this. I loaded OS 10.1 then 9.2 and then 10.1 again because it kept starting in classic and since then it won't reboot. I'll try this and let yu know the results.

I am a real novice at this. Please explain in laymen terms how to do that and I will try it right now. I'm heart sick that it's not working.:(

Yes, that's what I mean. I can't get the ibook to boot from the CD. It just goes to the happy mac and the swirling rainbow and then shuts off.

I tried that but I can't get the screen to go past the happy mac and the swirling rainbow. Any other suggestions.

Thanks for replying. The happy mac face comes on and the rainbow wheel turns in the upper left hand corner and then it shuts down. That's as far as it gets.:(

I have a new ibook. It came with 9.0 and i upgraded it to 10.0. I purchased a 10.1 upgrade and loaded that. Then I loaded the 9.2 upgrade. After that whenever i started it, it would start with 9.2 insted of 10.1. I couldn't figure out what to do so I reloaded 10.1. Now I can't get my ibook...
