    Disable intrusive background processes

How to get rid of uninvited self-starting background processes (eg Adobe and Google updaters) in Lion? I knew how to do it in OSX 10.6, but not clear what to do in Lion. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

Nice helpful language. I tried all the solutions suggested by members of this forum and couldn't get any of them to work. Perhaps the problem is unique to the particular NAS server I'm using: it is a MyBookLive made by Western Digital. But I did eventually figure out a way to make the Browse...

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

You said you could browse to another TM disc but I didn't get that it was a NAS disc. Anyway, when I try to replicate what you've got in your image, I get the attached.

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

Yes, it works fine. Evidently when I set up Time Machine, it partitioned the NAS Drive, which I named PressOn into two "drives" or partitions or shares. So when I Go - Connect To Server - Browse, I get the result shown in the attached png. I can double click on PressOn to mount it, and then...

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

Sorry to disagree. So far not a single person has replied saying he/she could Browse Other Time Machine Disks when TM is on a network drive. If it can't be done, then lots of people are deluding themselves thinking that they are protected in case of catastrophic failure. You say you can...

I suspect Time Machine won't work on NAS drive

I'm running Time Machine on a Western Digital network storage device from my iMac. It works fine. I can go back any amount of time and recover files as they were backed up then. But I also want to be able to depend on Time Machine backups to allow me to recover files if my iMac goes down. So...

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

All the boxes were already checked. I still can't mount the TM volume.

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

Paste is greyed out after I do the copy. Drag and drop doesn't do anything (icon just snaps back to window I'm dragging it from). MacOS seems pretty serious about denying me access to this volume. Time Machine works fine as long as my iMac is OK, but there is apparently no way to retrieve...

All boxes are (and have always been) marked on. Still can't mount the volume.

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

The available options are Open, Get Info, Copy <diskname>, and Show View Options. Open gives an immediate Connection Failure. GetInfo opens the command-i window for the selected item, Copy does nothing at all (it's just ignored), and view options give view options.

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

Since I can't access the drive through the finder, I know no way to copy it.

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

Since I can't mount it, how can I copy it? Since the Western Digital NAS drive has only an ethernet point, how can I connect it via USB or Firewire? Thanks for helping, t.

How do I "mount" Time Machine Volume?

Time Machine gives me a way to Browse Other Time Machine Disks, a feature that would make it possible for me to use my MacBook to retrieve material backed up by my iMac -- handy in case the iMac went belly-up. But when I try to use the feature, TM on the MacBook tells me that there are no other...

Access Time Machine Backup From Other Machine

Yes, I can do that. I can see the backup volume. But when I try to mount it, I get an immediate Connection Failure. When I click on Connect As, I get nothing. So how do I mount it?
