    My G4 doesn't hear a mike

    I bumped into trouble attempting use of the microfone with my Power Mac G4. Every setting looks ok but the machine doesn't hear mike at all - neither internal nor external. What can be wrong?

    Installing a .dmg file

    I do, too, have a similar problem with dmg file. My Mac isn't upgraded yet and runs OS 8.6. The dmg files look like blank pages. Do I have to upgrade my OS first, to open those dmgs? What OS opens them? Thanks
