I've reinstalled OSX. and quit out of webshots. maybe ill try the disk utility and updating thanks

I downloaded this Webshots thing for putting pictures online, and one of my pictures accidently set as my desktop. I tried to go into Sys Prefs and change it, and it quits. I can't change the desktop for the life of me, System Prefs keeps quitting. how can i reset it or something? System 10.3...
