I am running 6.5.3 Quicktime. I have reinstalled but it didn't make a difference. This problem has been recent since loading my cd's, however, it did work properly for a while so don't know if there is any connection. It does happen in all programs. An interesting tidbit that I noticed today...

The sound keeps cutting in and out. It sounds like a record that is skipping. This happens whenever I try to listen to music or watch a video clip. I am running system 10. 2. 8 on an Imac. Any ideas?
