Arbitrary suggestions of people in iMessage. Delete? Remove? Why?

Why is there this rotating list of four people at the top of my iMessages when I click on Search? And there are numbers that are not in contacts, I have no idea where they came from but iMessage thinks I may want to send them a message. (see attached. the last number is no one I know). I also get "maybe name of person" and have no idea who they are or where they came from. And here's the best. This list doesn't match on the ipad, iphone or mac, regardless of sync. There isn't a way to delete them, just add them or make them contacts. I deleted all the conversations and they still populate. Why? Where are these being pulled from and why can't I "just simply" delete them? Maddening. I really don't need anyone's name at the top of the iMessage list

They could be numbers from those junk text messages.
The ones that I don't recognize sure. But I don't need any showing up ( I know who my friends are and don't need to be reminded to send someone a message LOL). And I certainly don't need the junk text messages showing up. So, from when? Anytime since I starting using iMessage on an iPad, a phone or the mac or the air? Any idea as to why these arbitrary names don't sync with the other devices? Just curious. I will ignore I guess since apparently there's nothing I can do about them. Thanks.

Before you do another search, go to System preferences > Search. Turn off Show related Content.

Now try your search.

Thanks, but don't know where System Preferences are anymore. There is nothing in iMessage that indicates this. On the mac, there's System Settings, but no preferences. There is a "SEARCH" window but no word "Search." And as far as I know, I have show related content off everywhere but will definitely check when I figure out where it's hidden :) PS in settings, I found this on the iPhone. Turned it off there. It was never an issue there (don't see this issue on the phone) but turned it off there; I will see if I can find on the ipad.

I haven't a clue where you are. In the upper left hand corner of my computer there is an Apple. I click that, scroll to system settings and there is a long list of items. There are no dots. (Cloud, Family, Wifi etc, General, Accessibility scrolling scrolling.

On the iPhone, Settings, similar list. no three dots.
I know where "search" is (the box to search for something) but there is not "suggestions" to turn on or off for iMessages.

After deleting all conversations, turning off sharing, turning it back on again, what I get now along the top are the four different one time codes I had to use today to access some websites that required a security code. They aren't still valid or accessible which is why I am sharing it here. So, better than some arbitrary person grabbed from somewhere in the past or contacts that iMessage wants me to contact. I've moved on. Apparently I can't "get there from here." No matter. Thanks for all your help past and present. Have a great holiday. Screenshot 2024-12-23 at 5.32.20 PM.png
