OK so more info from my poor father sitting next to his sick imac! --- "Well I can't find a file called panic.log. Could you ask him where it should be ?. Is there some search facility (like explorer in windows) which goes thro' the whole disc and finds what you want ?. Spotlight...

Yes but, from what i can gather, that is what he has done but still the problem seems to exist! I'm going to try and get some more info out of him and post it here. Thanx for all your help so far - please don't go away - I'm scared he will sell it and buy a PC !!

Gosh thankyou so much for your quick replies! A bit odd having to try and converse in the third person but I'll do my best from what he has told me so far .... Apparently this all started when he accidently changed the name of the home file by accident so when the machine restarted it...

I told my dad that he would be better off ditching his pc for a mac - so now he's getting repeated kernal panics on his new iMac G5. Can someone help me to find a solution because I'm very embarrassed !! His last email reads - I cleared log and then forced a panic attack - logged off...
