For those who want to keep PowerPC...

    So much for "Think Different".

    ya'll gotta relax

And what, coincidentally Apple's share price started climbing 18 months ago, but it wasn't related to the iPod? Don't kid yourself, man. I like alot of the things that Jobs has done. But that does not make him infallable and this is clearly a mistake. Whatever you believe, when the G5 came...

    ya'll gotta relax

Fryke, it;s clear that you are pro-intel. I own stock in intel. I do not care that intel will be supplying Apple with chips because it will make no discernable difference to the bottom line. If you've noticed, the news hasn't caused a rush on intel. It doesn't matter what Jobs knows that we...

    ya'll gotta relax

Because no one, not even Jobs, knows how far IBM is from the next chip. And no one, not even Jobs, knows that intel is going to be any better. Jobs just knows one thing. IBM failed to deliver on the 3GHz chip. And he is going to punish them. All of you on the pro intel side have been saying that...

    ya'll gotta relax

If that had anything to do with it, they would have used intel from the start. Steve is only going to intel now to chap IBM's ass.

Why couldn't Apple go With AMD?

Wow, you are actually serious! Unbelievable! Not even in America would a supplier be able to sue a customer for not purchasing their products. Apple does not control the chip market, and AMD can still market their processors to others and to apple, whether they buy them or not.

Why couldn't Apple go With AMD?

What the hell are you talking about? AMD can't sue somebody just for not buying their product.

Please don't call it a Macintosh

Yea, Solrac, calling an intel Mac "Putrified" (smirk) is as rude as calling someone dumb. :) Sorry for the edit on my post. I'm not trying to make you look insane. The comment you quoted really didn't belong in my post, so I deleted it before I saw your reply.

Please don't call it a Macintosh

If Macintosh is the OS, then they stopped being Macintoshes when System 7 came out. Or was it 8?, 9? Way back at 5? I can't remember. You guys that suggest that the 68000 to 68020 change, or even the change to PPC, is anything like a change to intel might be surprised. (But then again, I...

There is only ONE Reason to buy a Macintosh

You must not have had an original Macintosh back in 1984.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

If Jobs is doing this over technology, then he has been lying to us and coopting us into lying for him for years. And that should royally piss you off. He is doing it purely to spite IBM.

    Mac to use Intel Chips!

Maybe it is just time for Jobs to move on, again.

Jef Raskin dead (he invented the 1-button mouse and a lot of other things for Apple)

I remember when I first saw a Macintosh. The local Apple dealer had a display at the local shopping mall. I had just become familiar with PC's and here was a computer that was entirely different from anything out there. I remember the mouse, the graphics, the whirr of the CLV floppy disk drive...

    Apple Stock to Split

Who would buy it a $1M per share? And with no buyers, the stock tanks. A stock will totally crash on the trading of a fraction of a percent of the total outstanding shares. And it's all on the ratio of buy to sell orders. It doesn't take much of a lack of buying.

    Apple Stock to Split

Fundamentals have very little to do with it. The stock market is an auction, and a very emotional one at that. If fundamentals had anything to do with it, the .com's would not have been trading at PE's typically as high as 400. And the volumes I compared dell and brk at are typical for those...

    Apple Stock to Split

The long term benefit is that the stock is more liquid. Dell traded 17.4 million shares today, out of 2.48 billion outstanding, or .7% of the company's market cap (~ $700 million). Berkshire Hathaway traded 120 A shares and 6970 B shares (effectively 232 A shares, since a B share is 1/30 an A...

    Apple Stock to Split

Yep. But in the case of Dell's last split, it couldn't reverse the trend! Here's hoping Apple continues to grow. (up over $3 currently!)
