    Apple Stock to Split

Valuable and purchaseable aren't the same thing. But I don't mean to sound like I am arguing, you have it right. (Accessable might be a good word for it).

    Apple Stock to Split

The stock split itself does not make the stock more valuable. The news of the split often causes the price to run up because people generally assume that the price will increase after the split (because the stock is more marketable). The case with most every issue I've owned is that there is a...

    Apple Stock to Split

Look at Berkshire Hathaway. $91,500 per share. Like TommyWillB said, some brands want a higher cost. Berkshire Hathaway does not split or pay dividends. You buy it because you want a piece of Warren Buffet's expertise. They only introduced the 'B' shares (currently about $3,050 a share) in...

    Apple Stock to Split

I bought 200 at $23 a little over a year ago. When it hit $47, I sold half to recover my cost. The entire position (100) is now profit.

    Apple Stock to Split

I think you missed his point. He wants to keep a hundred shares, the split allows him to take some profit, and hopefully the remaining shares will continue to grow.

Dell currently has 2-1/2 billion outstanding shares. Microsoft has almost eleven billion.

    Apple Stock to Split

A split does not "up" the value of the company, artificially or otherwise. And while the Mercedes analogy is probably somewhat correct, it does cost money to split the stock, so they have to feel there is a reason. The reason is generally to make the price more attractive to smaller buyers.

How do you buy shares in AAPL?

That kind of thinking would have kept me from some of my best investments! (Of course, it also would have kept me from some of my worst as well!) Damn the analysts, full speed ahead!

How do you buy shares in AAPL?

You've got to start somewhere! I use schwab online, but they are pricey and have a very high minimum to start the account. Read this: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/04_20/b3883121_mz070.htm http://biz.yahoo.com/edu/cb/ir_cb4.ir.html...

    AppleCare Cares Nothing For Downtime

The Dell tech (some service contractor) that replaced my defective floppy drive some years ago came equipped to replace the motherboard, power supply, or any other plausible failed component. And that was also a no extra cost plan. Guys, stop making exuses for Apple. I love my Mac, I think it...

    AppleCare Cares Nothing For Downtime

If you pay 10% of the cost of the machine for additional warranty and support, then it shouldn't matter how long he owned it. It is an insurance policy. Also, IMHO, Apple Care or any other extra cost warranty is wasted money. If you buy a Mac, is the dropout rate after warranty anywhere near...

    AppleCare Cares Nothing For Downtime

About six years ago I bought a high end NEC 17" monitor (back when that was something!) from a discount mail order house. The unit came in, it had one dead phosphor dot, less than a pixel and barely noticeable. I called NEC, and they shipped me a new monitor and a prepaid label to return the...
