Study says 100 million PCs to be replaced in 2004

This is why the news will report that Apple's marketshare has dropped again. The shorter lifespan of Windows machines means they need to be replaced more. And marketshare numbers represent machines sold, not machines in use. Chris

    Colour iPod (merged thread)

What could you do with a color screen on a music player? Viewing photos or album covers is obvious and neat, but not "useful". So let's put on our thinking caps and figure out how color could really be useful... 1) Playlists can be represented by colors, like iCal calendars 2) Songs could be...

    Colour iPod (merged thread)

I agree. Even though color is not necessary, it helps Apple hold mindshare and marketshare as the leader. If others are moving to color and Apple doesn't, they will be seen as falling behind in features. So I think it would serve an important marketing function at least. Chris

    10.3.3 exceeds expectations...

Octane, You're not doing it right. Never in Panther have you had to select all of the items in a folder to search through them. In the screenshot you posted earlier, you had a single file selected. Of course that won't work. You won't find anything in a selection of one! You need to select...

    Bluetooth with iPod

I don't know when it is supposed to be out. The unit they had at MacWorld was a prototype in a one-off plastic case. It could control and receive audio from the iPod, but the LCD screen wasn't implemented yet. If I had to guess, I'd say they have another 6 months. And sorry about the link. I...

    Bluetooth with iPod

It might be even better than you think. I saw their prototype at MacWorld. They have a bluetooth remote that lets you control the iPod. Your headphones plug into the remote and receive audio from the iPod over bluetooth. But that's not all! The remote has its own LCD screen and if I understood...

    Bluetooth with iPod

It depends on what you want Bluetooth to do. If you want to move songs to the iPod, then no. But if you just want a wireless remote control for the iPod, or you want to use Bluetooth headphones with the iPod, then yes--such products are in the pipeline from the same company who makes this...

    New Terminal "feature"

Well, in Terminal Preferences you can change the terminal type with a popup menu. I changed it to VT100 and now it keeps the scrollback buffer exactly like it used to. Problem fixed. Chris
