If You Have Os 10.1, Clean Install Now!

Unless you move the swap file to another drive, the size of your OSX partition only limits you to the size of VM space (and docs, apps etc). nick

If You Have Os 10.1, Clean Install Now!

Yeah, but thats *not* how it works with X/9 you can choose to boot off of a system folder within your X partition. It is reccomended that you have a partitioned drive, but you don't have to. Nick

If You Have Os 10.1, Clean Install Now!

And then what? Later after everything is reloaded onto the machine and life continues, how long do you think this miraculous speed boost will last? not long, trust me. I clean installed the day I got my upgrade, and trust me, the speed boost doesn't last long. (at least in a work environment)...

Office v.X. Where can we find it?

Close, but no cigar, too many annoying bugs in it for it to be declared a MBU GM. MBU's standards tend to be higher than their windows counterparts. However we won't know until release day. nick

    Office X Gm

That is the auto-run installer. Basically it installs all of the Ms extentions and other crap that some of the Office apps need to run. In the case that you accidentally delete one of these extentions or move or disable them, The "Microsoft Office First Run" application launches and reinstalls...

256 vs 384 vs 512 MB RAM under OS X

heh, 10,000rpm Cheetah drive...mmmm.... cheetah....A fast hard drive also does wonders to a systems speed, in regards to app load time, doc load time, and i'd assume OSX's VM system. A new video card might do you well, or a processor upgrade. proc upgrades, unless i'm way behind, are always last...

    OSX Browser!

Now if Omni licensed gecko, made it do anti-aliasing, we would have some hot cha cha on our hands... Otherwise, Moz is, a little slow in launch speed but page rendering, hands-down whups up on the competition. Pretty good standards compliance helps too. Omni 4.1 however is lookin like a mean cup...

Umax Astra Scanner support in OS X?

All of the printer drivers included with X were developed in-house by their respective companies. I think it would be possible for Apple to include a generic set of drivers for scanners or adopt a shareware app like Vuescan to be included with the OS. I think this is A Good Thing™. I wish...

    Epson drivers on the way!

Ok, asking for serial support IS a little much.... Mac's haven't shipped with serial ports since the first revision of the G3 B/W towers. I think it is safe at this point to say that serial is dead and we can move on. No other hardware manufacturer is supporting serial, why should epson (does X...

    Epson drivers on the way!

OH YEEEAAAHHH! I forgot about the small print in the licensing agreement for the software that said "This printer will be worthless in a year, you should have bought HP, SUCKADUCK" Damn those licesning agreements, should have read more clearly...DOH! learn from this kids, print and blow up...

ATI XClaim 3D compatible with OSX???

Yes, it works. How well it works depends on what you want out of it. It serves its purpose as a decent second monitor card pretty well. The Xclaim TV card that comes with it has no osx drivers so no TV, period. Under 9, the Xclaim TV lets you use live TV as a desktop picture, a pretty cool...
